Yay for Italy! Yesterday's World Cup Final was pretty intense. I went with my friend Christine to watch it at the house of some of her friends from church. It was a fun crowd! This one guy kept inventing a script for the replays. The players were saying things like "Croissant!" and "You'll be getting a visit from the mafia after the game" and for Zidane's now infamous headbutt to Matterazzi, "What'd you say about my momma??!!!"
So, here is the question....why doesn't anyone in the US watch soccer? In fact, why is it called football every where else but here? It seems like to be interested in soccer, you had to have travelled out of the country or just have an interest other countries.
Operation 2010 South Africa, go on a US wide soccer promo tour! It is too fun to miss!

haha, yeah love those inventors, we have our own!
I forgot to tell you, you know usually evening service (night church as you call it) starts at 18:30, in South African time the match started at 20:00. So church was shorter than usual, it was worship, a personal time and then testimonies from 2 of our young guys that finished school last year and went off as missionaries to Sudan and Uganda the last last few months, then it was open to everyone. Ended just intime for the kickoff.
The Youth pastor and the students ministry arrangned for a lot of the matches to be showed at one of the houses that the church owns, but for the final we used the church hall, so after chruch people grabed dinner at the cafe at chruch and watched the soccer. There must have been about 50 people, it was cool, supports of both teams, it so happened that the pastor advertised it in the service as if you want to watch the french wining the cup, he has so much egg in his face right now!
